Post date 9 November 2007

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to start a graduate thesis focused on developing teaching modules that incorporate the results of a larger International Polar Year project on the causes and consequences of treeline movement. The successful applicant would receive full funding to start a Masters of Environmental Studies program in the School for Resource and Environmental Studies at Dalhousie University in September, 2008, supervised by Drs. Karen Harper and Tarah Wright.  The student would also receive funding to travel to three northern communities as part of the project.

The student will be responsible for soliciting input from teachers and elders in northern communities for developing teaching modules focusing on K-12 students in northern communities.  Interested individuals should contact Karen Harper at Karen.Harper@Dal.ca. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, though applicants must apply to SRES at Dalhousie by the school's deadline (1 Feburary 2008).  Excellent applicants may apply and be accepted to the program before this date.  Preference will be given to an individual who applies from a northern community near treeline.
